Hancock & Sunflower Seeds

Hancock is not the typical superhero story that's action packed. It's more about the character and his life with superhuman powers. Though, it had poor to average reviews. I kinda like the story because there's a twist that is different from the superhero movies I've watched before. Maybe it will have a sequel. The effects of the movie are great. Like always, Will Smith who plays John Hancock, is a hunk and co-star Charlize Theron who is one of my favorite actresses, is a knock-out! If you want to read the plot of the movie, just click here. By the way, as we are watching... my two boys munched happily with this sunflower seeds you see in the photo above. They both love seeds and nuts, that we call "kutkutin". Pandan Plant

Pandan or Screwpine is well-known in Southeast Asian Cuisine. It is commonly used to add aroma to rice and curry dishes. Personally, every time, I cook steamed rice. I made sure to put some leaves tied in a knot just after boiling. It renders a sweet-herby smell that lingers all through-out the house which is a very nice and comforting fragrance for me. Pandan is also a medicinal plant. You can use its leaves for healing wounds, headache, athiritis and stomach spasms. As for its roots, it is believed to have aphrodisiac properties. An herbal alternative for viagra. Just boil its roots with some water and drink like a tea. That's what my Uncle said... LOL! I also read that Pandan leaves are also used to make baskets and bags. I have several Pandan plants in my backyard that was planted by my Mom. But I'm the one now caring for them because my mother is living with my bro in Davao. WS - Tempura, Shrimp Flavored Snack Chips

Last Saturday, after several hours of waiting for my kiddo to finish his school dance practice & ballet class. We went home straight. Had a late lunch. I took a nap for an hour. Then, the husband loaded the Pirates Of The Carribean At World's End for us to watch. While doing so, we munched on this shrimp flavored snack named Tempura. Which by the way is yummy and not that salty like the other chips I tasted.

Fish Cracker

I've learned to eat foodies like this from my Mom. She loves "kutkutin", that's what she calls the food that you have to eat one by one and very slowly but very addictive. It seems you can't have enough. A traditionally Filipino style junk food. I guess, it's not really junk because it is made out of fish, flour and egg. Best dip in garlic-vinegar. I haven't been able to cook this but I love buying them. They are usually sold inside the bus and small stalls in terminals. But my Mom is a suki of a vendor who sells fish cracker that she drops by our house monthly to sell this to us.

Kaffir Lime Tree

I bought this Kaffir Lime tree several months ago at Manila Seedling Bank in Quezon Avenue. It has tripled its size now. When I got it, it was just about 5 inches tall. I'm so amazed by its appearance. It has double petal and very thorny. The husband said that all citrus plants are like that. I think so, because the Philippine Lemon plant we have is also like that. I've read so many Asian recipes, particularly Thai and Malaysian that include Kaffir Lime in their ingredients. One of these days, I'm going to try it. I just wanted my Kaffir Lime to get a little bigger before I start using their leaves for my cooking delight.

We were supposed to eat at Hap Chan Chinese Restaurant after Kulit's ballet lesson. The husband was craving for Chinese food, while, I wanted something hot. But unfortunately, the resto was closed due to air-conditioning trouble. The weather today was cold and windy that's why i wanted to have something to warm my tummy. We ended up at Jollibee, it's the only food store that's near the dance studio that serves hot soups. The photo above was my snack. The husband had the Junior Champ a.k.a TLC value meal and the Lil'One had chicken and rice. By the way, the La Paz Batchoy, which was a new product, was great for the cheap price of 28 Philippine pesos only. And of course, the Tuna pie was great too! One of my favorites at Jollibee, never fails to satisfy my palate (",)

WS - Ballet Class

Every Saturday and Sunday, my Lil'One has a ballet class. I'm the one who's accompanying him to the dance studio. He just started two weeks ago and really enjoying it so much! After the one on one class with Teacher Joelle had finished. I promised my kid will go to Mc Donald's to have his Happy meal. So, we did. See his lit up face? You can see how happy he is! (",)

After dropping our kid to the ice skating rink last Saturday in SM-MOA, with Bunso. Before going to the SMX Convention Center to attend the Franchise Expo 2008. We, the husband & I, had a late lunch at Teriyaki Boy, a Japanese Resto. It was our first time. The verdict? It's good and highly recommended. Though, Japanese food in nature... It was cooked for the palate of Filipinos and they have huge servings. That's what I like about their food. We'll be back again soon to try their other food products.

Last Saturday, we went to SM-Mall Of Asia. Kulit, after 5 months of being absent at the rink, skated again with Tin & Bunso. While, the husband & I visited the Franchise Expo 2008 Exhibit at SMX. After that, we went for a snack at Krispy Kreme and avail their free wi-fi access.

It's been days the husband has been bugging me to watch Wanted. Supposedly, last Saturday, we were going to and meet Bunso and Tin, my friends at SM-Mall of Asia. Unfortunately, we can't! Simply because the Maynilad did not announced earlier that they going to cut the supply of water that day. We were out of water not even a single drop! How were we going to take a bath! Haaayy... Anyways, we just stayed home. I watched some DVD movies while munching the yummy popcorn that was a pasalubong for me yesterday from the husband.

Foodshot Sundays - Maty's Tapsihan

The husband been telling me since Friday that he wants to eat "Tapsilog" (Tapa-Sinangag-Itlog) at Maty's. It's located in Dongalo, Paranaque. Today, Tin is here. She's also a fanatic of that kind of food. So, off we went. Even my Lil'One loves their "Si-Log" ( fried garlic rice & sunny-side up egg). Me, I also like their "Tapsilog", besides it tastes good and cheap. It also makes me nostalgic about my childhood. The house we used to live in is still there and just 3 houses apart from the Tapsihan where we ate. But it has deteriorated so much that it lost her beauty. Anyways, it's good to be there again (",)

Jollibee Breakfast Meals

Because of the bad weather, I got up late this morning, around 10 am. Not for the reason that lying in bed is good right now. But for the fact that I can't sleep straight. The strong winds been blowing so hard, making our Mango tree sway over our roof, making a screeching sound!

The husband asked if we could have Jollibee breakfast meals delivered. I said, yes without any hesitation. I did not feel like slaving myself in the kitchen and for the fact, that my tummy is growling, meaning I'm hungry. It's way past my breakfast time which is around 7 am after my insulin shot.


Breakfast meals in Jollibee is one of my family's favorite, The husband loves the Longganisa Meal, that's way before when he was still my boyfriend up until now. The Lil'One learned to love their pancakes. While, I love their tapa and longganisa too! Even our dear Luigi loves the garlic fried rice. I even left him some of my tapa to enjoy with garlic fried rice.

Friday Is Noodle Day For My Lil'One

Today, is Lucky Me's Instant Pancit Canton Day or Noodle Day! That is, every Friday! That's the deal I had with my Lil'One. He is only allowed to eat instant nooodles once a week. He loves it so much, particularly instant pancit canton and goes ga-ga over it! I know, it is unhealthy because of the high level content of sodium and mono-sodium glutamate (MSG). That is why, it is only taken once a week. And also, a little reward for him after being a good kid in school.

After we got home from school, I immediately went to the kitchen, washed my hands and cooked 2 packs of instant pancit canton for his merienda. As he was putting his school bag in its proper place, changing his clothes and putting his school lunch box to the sink. You can see the eyes of my kiddo twinkling with glee! That's how much he loves noodles specially this one! The commercial of this product is true.... anti-sumpong.... anti-lowbat (",)
