After dropping our kid to the ice skating rink last Saturday in SM-MOA, with Bunso. Before going to the SMX Convention Center to attend the Franchise Expo 2008. We, the husband & I, had a late lunch at Teriyaki Boy, a Japanese Resto. It was our first time. The verdict? It's good and highly recommended. Though, Japanese food in nature... It was cooked for the palate of Filipinos and they have huge servings. That's what I like about their food. We'll be back again soon to try their other food products.

Foodshot Sundays - Maty's Tapsihan

The husband been telling me since Friday that he wants to eat "Tapsilog" (Tapa-Sinangag-Itlog) at Maty's. It's located in Dongalo, Paranaque. Today, Tin is here. She's also a fanatic of that kind of food. So, off we went. Even my Lil'One loves their "Si-Log" ( fried garlic rice & sunny-side up egg). Me, I also like their "Tapsilog", besides it tastes good and cheap. It also makes me nostalgic about my childhood. The house we used to live in is still there and just 3 houses apart from the Tapsihan where we ate. But it has deteriorated so much that it lost her beauty. Anyways, it's good to be there again (",)

Last Saturday, we went to SM-Mall of Asia, we had a late lunch at Pho Hoa, which was picked by the husband. I think it's a Vietnamese Resto... not sure! The food is okay, nothing to be amazed about. The husband got the "Breaded Fish on rice" while, I got the "Sauteed Chicken & Mushroom on rice" & "Cucumber Shake". As usual, my little one bought his lunch at Mc Donald's, his ever-favorite "1-pc Chicken" with lots of rice and gravy (",)

Last night, I went out with my friends from my radio years. We call our group, Tropang Mcdo. Back then, more than a decade ago, we used to meet at Mc Donald's, that's why the name. It's kinda like a farewell party for Jojo and Jayson and also, our annual reunion. They are both leaving the country for work. Jo is going to Singapore while Jayson will go back again to India. We had a blast at Pier One, a bar and grill restaurant.

We celebrated Valentine's Day a day earlier. We watched "Jumper", then, had dinner at the newly open Max's Restaurant in SM-Southmall.

Right after my kiddo's skating lesson today, he was hungry. He wanted to eat Jolly Hotdog from Jollibee, so we went. But I didn't want a hotdog sandwich. I told my hubby to just take-out the food and we'll eat somewhere else. First, I decided to go to Taco Bell but I changed my mind. Then, I asked my hubby to buy me "Meatballs Molo Soup". It's really good, it warms your tummy just before eating the main meal for the cheap price of 25 pesos only. Finally, I decided to go to Kenny Rogers Roasters. I had this sudden urge to try their new product line, their sandwiches. I picked the "Roast Chicken Sandwich". I was really disappointed, the chicken chunks are not roasted as I expect them to be, it was more like boiled chicken chunks or I may say leftover fried chicken cut into chunks. I didn't even tasted the mayonnaise dressing, too dry. Though, the cucumber, tomato and lettuce are crunchy fresh. Also, I tried their "Brownie Ala Mode". It's okay nothing to rave about but the serving is quite huge. For that reason, I wasn't able to finish it. I just had the vanilla ice cream on top. My hubby ate the cherry. I had the brownie packed and gave it to Luigi as our pasalubong. Our doggie loved it! He's such a chocolate lover c",)

Though, it's bad for my health. This is really good, very creamy and just the right sweetness for my palate. I can even consume a box if not for my blood sugar I'd think about after eating.

"Lechon Kawali"

Max's is known for their sarap-to-the-bones fried chicken but personally, I don't like their chicken anymore. It's dry not moist or juicy like before. When I was a little girl, my Daddy would always bring home a whole fried chicken. My brothers and I would feast on it happily! Back to the picture, this is now my favorite fried food in this resto. It's really good even my kiddo likes it. It's very tender yet crispy on the outside. Even the skin was like the texture of chicharon.... malutong but gooey or should I say chewy (yung naninikit ba sa ngipin.... ang sarap!)

This was the reason we dined at Max's.... my hubby was craving for this and was very much satisfied after the dinner.

Stromboli & Cheesecake from Sbarro

My early dinner. This isn't the first time I tried these two yummies. I liked the combination of cheese and ham inside the bread plus the very aromatic smell and sharp taste of sesame seeds on top of it. Toasted and crunchy on the outside but very soft and gooey in the inside... perfect! As for the cheesecake, I like the mild sweetness of it and creaminess.... heaven! (",)

Sbarro's Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, Garlic Stick & Spaghetti with white sauce

Due to my little one's busy ice skating schedule last month. These pictures are one of those I weren't able to post on this blog. I love eating at Sbarro. Even my hubby who didn't like Italian Cuisine learned to love their food. It's my first time to try their "Chicago Deep Dish Pizza", it tasted good but still my favorite is their "Pan Pizza Supreme" and of course, "Ziti with white sauce". We even tried their "Spaghetti with white sauce and Garlic stick". Nothing to rave about like their "Ziti" but it's okay too!

Durian Eating

Being in Davao, it's a must to try their popular fruit which is the "King of all fruits" known as Durian. For me, it's not really foul-smelling as everyone would think about it. I did try it and it's delicious but its too much for my taste buds.... too creamy and yummy! (na-umay ako!). Well, they say, it smells like hell but tastes like heaven (",)


Wikipedia defines Durian as...

the fruit of the tree of the genus Durio belonging to the Malvaceae, a large family which includes hibiscus, okra and cotton. Widely known and revered in Southeast Asia as the "King of Fruits", the fruit is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and a formidable thorn-covered husk. It comes from the Malay word duri (thorn) together with Malay suffix that is -an (for building a noun in Malay), meaning "thorny fruit".

There are 30 recognized Durio species, all native to Southeast Asia and at least nine of which produce edible fruit. Durio zibethinus is the only species available in the international market; other species are sold in their local region.

The fruit can grow up to 30 centimetres (12 in) long and 15 centimetres (6 in) in diameter and typically weighs one to three kilograms (2 to 7 lbs). Its shape ranges from oblong to round, the colour of its husk green to brown and its flesh pale-yellow to red, depending on the species. The hard outer husk is covered with sharp, prickly thorns, while the edible custard-like flesh within emits the strong, distinctive odour, which is regarded as either fragrant or overpowering and offensive. The taste of the flesh has been described as nutty and sweet.

Sbarro, an Italian Restaurant

We had a late breakfast today, it was almost lunch already. At around 4 o' clock in the afternoon, as we arrived at SM-Southmall, we were hungry. My kiddo had skating lesson and practice. My hubby requested for pizza again. He's choice was Pizza Hut but I didn't feel like eating their oily pizza. We agreed to eat at Sbarro. It was our first time to try their "Pan Supreme". We both liked it .... very scrumptious! Though a little expensive but it's worth it. I ordered my favorite, "Ziti with white sauce"and "Garlic Bread". My hubby liked the pasta and bread too. As for my kid, we dropped by first at Mc Donald's to buy Mc Chicken and fries for him. He just ate it at Sbarro!

Merienda at Chowking

We went to my son's pediatrician for his vaccine shot. After that, my kiddo asked if we can go to Chowking and have our snack there. He wanted to eat "Mantao" and "Halo-halo", which also I would like to try. In their advertisement, They claim its much delicious and creamier now. Though, we're regular customers of Chowking, I was disappointed by their halo-halo, it's much still the same, too much sugar and the taste of the ingredients don't blend well together. They just changed the melon ice cream topping to cheese ice cream, so that when it melts it would render a much creamier halo-halo. Sad to say, I felt like I was cheated. But no worries this is the only produst, as of now, I don't like in this resto. I still love their "Breakfast Meals". I ordered "Pork Siomai" and my hubby had their "Special Siopao Asado".

Welcome Home Dada!!!

My hubby just got back... we dined at Max's Restaurant. We had our favorite, "Fresh Lumpiang Ubod". Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take pictures. Our first time to try their "Chicken Sisig". It's good, just the right spicyness (masarap siyang pulutan!). My kiddo had their "Basic Plate", consists of chicken, rice and caramel bar.

While we're eating my kiddo found a new friend. He didn't even asked what's her name .... they just played merrily! (",)

Rai Rai Ken

Definitely, we'll not go back to this Japanese Restaurant. The food tasted bad. I ordered Sharksfin Gyoza, which was "malabsak", my son threw it out after putting inside his mouth (ganda pa naman sa picture akala mo ang galing mag-chopstick!) and Shrimp and Beef Bento, too much breading around the shrimp, the bean sprouts are bitter and the beef teriyaki had too much salt. The only consolation my kiddo got was the soup, he liked it. No wonder, everytime I passed by their store there's no people dining in.

Sunday Breakfast at Chowking

For the past several months, we would have our breakfast at Chowking Pamplona every sunday. Our favorite "Almuchow", their breakfast menu.

Danggit for Tita Tin-tin (1st photo). Breakfast Bangus (2nd photo) and Oriental Beef Tapa (3rd photo) for me. For my Little One, 3-4 Sunny-side up eggs and 1-1/2 cup of garlic rice (4th photo), imagine that?! for a little person like my son, I wonder... kung san niya nilalagay yung kinakain niya eh hindi naman tumataba at lumalaki! Siya ang kumakain lahat ng itlog sa almusal namin!
