Weekend Snapshot - Hannah

sleeping like a log...

Got a pretty and cute visitor last Saturday. It's my kiddo's very first grandchild, Hannah. She's also her cousin from his father. She came with her mom, Apeng and Tita Andeng. We had a blast having her here in our home, making her cry, teasing, playing and feeding her. Fyi, like his Ninong Kulit, they are both small but terrible, both has huge appetite and both very charming! I hope as promised by her Mom, she'll be back again for a visit.

Giniling Na Luto Ni Pao (Ground Pork Cooked By Pao)

"Eto ang luto na Giniling ni Pao"

"My whole fried plantain bananas"

"Fried tuyo with garlic-chili-vinegar for the dip"

I have an injured finger for 2 days now, my right ring finger. It has allergies. Then, me being clumsy (in which normally I'm not!) in the kitchen, the finger which has the allergies got splashed with hot oil while I was frying. For this reason, I'm not able to cook because it got worst. I'm taking antibiotic and pain reliever for it. Fortunately, we have so many left-overs to reheat. But for tonight, I requested my hubby's niece to cook for us. Her name is Pao. She stays here with us during weekdays when she's working in Makati. She cooked Ground Pork with Potato and Carrot, the usual! The kids staying with us, they love any dish made with ground pork. She even fried "tuyo", she's craving for it. Tuyo is a sun-dried salted sardines common here in the Philippines. I did fry the plantain bananas "saging na saba", I showed them how it is fried without the banana sipping the oil too much. You need not cut the banana, just fry it whole but make sure the oil in your pan is thoroughly hot. It should be fried in medium-high heat until all sides get brown, as you can see in the picture. I didn't even drained it in paper towels. The verdict with Pao's cooking? Personally, it's okay, need a little more practice but for tonight it will do! But her brother, Awe didn't like it. I asked him why, he said there's something in the dish in which he didn't like. All I can say, we are all entitled to our own opinion.

Luigi's Bath Time.... see how big he is now!!!

more pictures here....

My hubby asked Kuya Awe to bathe Luigi today. It is a weekly bath time for our doggie, usually Sunday. He doesn't like it, that's why he is chained while taking a bath, but he has no choice. He is so big now and his fur is very thick if you don't bathe him once a week, he'll get stinky and I don't like a stinky dog in our home. Also, my kiddo helped his cousin during Luigi's bath time, rinsing off the soap. He had so much fun... that after Luigi. He is taking a bath again, splashing and spritzing water in our yard (",).

Bubu's Laing

This is the famous Laing from my hubby's hometown, that's in Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan. He has a brother, named Bubu, who has a thingy for taro (gabi), who loves to cook it from its leaves, stalks, down to its roots, that they call "takway". It's an Ilonggo term for the roots of taro plant. Yok brought it last night, he's Bubu's son, who stays with us during weekdays while finishing his 5th year of Physical Therapy. The photo above is the leftover from last night's dinner, in which, I added coconut cream (kakang-gata) when I reheated it.

Special Sunday with the Kids!

After my Little One's birthday bash, his cousins spent the night here in our home. The house was a mess but it was great. All the kids were running around like crazy. They munched the mango torte cake, a birthday present from Bobby. I didn't mind at all. Before going to sleep, they watched "Quija", a Filipino-horror movie. Eventually while watching, they all fall asleep except from Pin-pin who stayed at my computer, doodling with it.

our house became a refugee camp.... hehe!

Would you believe as early as 6.30 in the morning the kids were all awake. I went to bed at around 4.30 am. I guess, it's okay. This will only happen once in a blue moon that the kids are all here. We had pandesal, sunny side up egg and coffee for breakfast. After that, they just watched, teased around. Tita Andeng became the victim, she was swung back and forth like a piggy... hahaha! just look at the picture!

swing... swing... piggy Andeng!

I prepared lunch before going to SM-Mall of Asia as planned. We had my "Fiesta Caldereta" and "Bacon Fusilli Carbonara". It will be posted after this entry. Also, this is some kind of advance birthday celebration for my hubby's birthday this coming November 30.

While I was cooking the kids were taking a bath one by one.... It took me an hour and a half to finish. By that time, they were all dressed up. We only have one bathroom... imagine that?! A dozen kids, my hubby and I.... whoaaahhhh! Now, I know the feeling of a big family! (",)

how old are you?!!

My hubby with the kids

chicha time!!!

We went to MOA at around 1 pm, when we got there. We went to Ocean View, we went out, on the side of Manila Bay. Yeap! at the scorching heat of the sun! Then, we went to Tom's World, the kids played. I even went ga-ga over 1-peso play machine, don't know its name. It's the machine that you drop 1-peso, then, it will push the bunch of 1- peso that had been dropped there. Then, if it drops. You get Tom's World tickets or prize items. I spent over 300 pesos but I'm glad to say, I got a lot of Tom's World tickets, plus 50 points and a swatch wristwatch.... not bad!!!

Sad to say, the kids decided to go home at around 4 pm. If they didn't, they will get to Bulacan late already, travel time is 2-3 hours. My hubby bought the kids pizzas for their baon in the bus. Kulit wasn't in the mood to even say goodbye to his cousins... he was so tired and thirsty. Tita Andeng made sure the kids got to the bus terminal, GJ accompanied her.

Indeed, a very special Sunday with the kids!

Kulit's 8th Birthday..... A Surprise Party!!!

Two days before my Little One's 8th bday, my hubby and I, decided to have it at Mc Donald's Las Pinas rather the first planned pajama party in our home with his cousins and looban kids only. We also decided not to tell Kulit about the change of plan. It was a hectic two days of preparing his give-aways and inviting his friends without him knowing while juggling his Kumon and Skating schedule. Every friday, we're at the rink for his skating lessons and practice. I'll just let the pictures tell you how the party went.... I'm glad to say my kiddo was really surprise and happy (",)

the birthday boy!

Kulit's birthday presents

On the day of my Little One's special day, he was so excited about the pajama party! He even wrote on a piece of paper to remind me the details for the party... like the food, balloons, invited guests and specially the games. I just nodded and told him, "don't worry, it's under control!". He didn't had any ideas the plans for his birthday had changed. The surprise birthday party was scheduled at 7 pm. I made his invited guests to come in blue-colored clothes and to be there at 6.30 pm. Well, I needed them for the big shout... to say "SURPRISE!!!" before the party begins. Kulit was so overwhelmed that he wasn't able to say anything, he just smiled and waved his right hand like a beauty queen (nag-feeling ta-ar-tits!!! hehehe). Then, he ran to Ate Kaye and hugged her!

The party was great. Everybody had fun, specially the kids. It was worth all the white lies I told my kid... well, if I didn't. I wouldn't be able to push through with the surprise party!

Thanks for all the re-pa-pips who came for my kiddo's 8th birthday!!! You really made my kid happy!

SUCCESS!!!!

Typical Sunday

I woke up at around 8.30 in the morning, washed my face and brushed my teeth. I checked around and the kids are home, It means GJ, Yok are here, sometimes Pao is here too, but for today she's not home. I considered these kids as my own. My kid's cousins from both sides of the family. I fried the ham and cooked the ever-favorite sunny side up egg while my nephew, GJ cooked the fried rice. We had breakfast. The older kids, Yok and GJ, washed the dishes and cleaned the dining table.

GJ and Yok picking fruits from the Sugar-apple tree

After that, they went to the backyard to pick fruits from the Sugar-apple tree. While my kid and hubby played with our dog, Luigi. Luigi was going crazy running around, sniffing my plants and digging soil. Observing them, I got a warm and fuzzy feeling. Though, it reminded me that I'm getting old, it's such a nice view to see. I got my camera and took pictures of them.

Luigi terrorizing my chili and pandan plants while playing with my hubby's hand.

My kid acting out the kick-ass move he saw from the action movies.

Where have the years gone by? I still remember GJ as a baby when my hubby was still my boyfriend, that was almost 15 years ago. He was just a year old then. Yok was only 6 yrs old and a very talkative kid, hyper too! Now, we have a kid of our own. Getting old definitely is not a bad thing... a moment like this makes it worthwhile c",)

see how big GJ is... as well as Luigi!

Luigi, a tall and handsome dog!

Torres Clan: Lolo Torres Funeral & An Instant Family Reunion

Earlier, we went to Bulacan to attend the funeral of "Lolo Torres", my father-in-law. After that, we spent the rest of the day in Tong-tong's newly built house. It's beautiful and has a very large backyard. All the kids had a great time. They played poker, pingpong and did other stuff, like making fun of each other.... teasing around. Dinner time was spent in "malaking bahay". It's a family reunion, an instant one! .... sobrang saya!
